Celebrations on the Bay by Kate
Kate really does an amazing job at this wedding capturing all the great moments and details. I think you'll agree!

Stacey and Jake - Phoenix, MD
It's really fun to go to a wedding where everything is at a home. The wedding was in the front yard by a tree, and the reception was in a tent. The weather held, and everyone had a blast. Check out this video of the pictures:

Kamala and Michael - Silver Swan Bayside
Last weekend brought me to Kent Island for Kamala and Michael's wedding at the Silver Swam Bayside. It was a great place with a view of the bay. The flower girls in this wedding made my job easy. Perhaps they should consider renting themselves out :-)

Fun Stuff
As a photographer I am always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to light my images. My wife and I were waiting for the Metro the other day, and I took this shot. She is lit by an advertisement board. Hey, it works!

As some of you know, we lost our beloved studio cat Puma recently. He was a great companion. Our newest addition is Gizmo. Mainly because he looks (and acts) a little like Stripe from the Gremlins. Some new clients have had meetings recently and left with a few (tiny) bit marks around their ankles. Hehe.

Michael and Christina - Thomas Birkby House - Leesburg, VA
Saturday took me far afield to Leesburg, VA for Christina and Michael's wedding at the Thomas Birkby House. It's a great historic home. The wedding was in the backyard, and the reception was in a tent. Despite temperatures pushing 90 degrees, in August, everyone had a blast.
Michael and Christina, you may remember from this epic engagement photo:

Emily and Brian - UMD Chapel
This Saturday was Emily and Brian's wedding at the University of Maryland Chapel. The reception was at the UMD Conference Center Marriott nearby. We had a whole lot of fun. This was one group we had no problem getting to loosen up. Well...almost. Brian, seen in his Marine uniform, took a little convincing, but I think he secretly had a blast taking the more relaxed photos.
Having my bud Brendan shooting with me was really fun too. It's nice to work with someone who is so fun and creative. This wedding was certainly one where having two photographers was worth it. The chapel was too big to cover during the short ceremony.
Without further ado....
A few of my favorites too:

Kristen and Spencer - 1st Presbyterian Church / Quiet Waters Park Annapolis
Saturday took me to 1st Presbyterian Church in Annapolis for Kristen and Spencer's big day. Do you ever get the feeling after working with someone that you'll probably stay friends? I really felt that way after everything on Saturday. Not to mention that we have a random mutual friend (Justin), who I was surprised to see at the reception. He's the guy wearing Chuck Taylors with his suit.
The Blue Heron pavilion was a great place for the reception. Especially on a Spring day when ALL the trees were in bloom. It was sunny, blue skies, pretty much perfect.
Anyways, I had a great day, and I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking:

Regina and Dave - Key Bridge Marriott
On Saturday I had the privilege of shooting Regina and Dave's wedding in DC/VA. The reception was at the Key Bridge Marriott, and it was a great venue. Between the ceremony and reception we stopped off for some great shots at the Lincoln memorial. I'm not sure who had more fun, me or them....

Very serious groomsmen...

I really like how you can see the whole bridal party in the window reflection...

Then of course, I had to play with my new 50mm f/1.2L

2009 Weddingwire Bride's Choice Award
So, it's totally not a big deal or anything....
But we were selected as the 2009 Baltimore/Annapolis area Bride's Choice Photographers by Weddingwire.com. Behold the logo:
So, new fancy logo aside....
I have been quite busy over the last couple months preparing for what is going to be a very exciting 2009. I purchased a new Canon 5D Mark II, which does just about everything, but I am still trying to figure out how I can get it to shoot weddings for me, so I can spend more time sailing....no luck yet...
We have also brought a new photographer on board, Kate. Kate is originally from the area, but had been working as an event photographer in Las Vegas. Her work is awesome, and she is already making a great addition to the team. I promise to rework the website so you can see associate photographer photos more easily.
Hope everyone is having a great 2009. Keep in touch!
